"In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory" (Isaiah 6:1-3 KJV).
Yesterday we enjoyed breakfast at one of our favorite eateries, the "Railroad Diner" in Richland, PA, a rail-themed diner sitting right beside a busy freight rail line. Many dishes have a train theme as well such as the "B&O", "Railroad Scrambler" and the "Train Wreck" omelette which I ordered. While dining in the Railroad Diner the trains regularly pass by and you can quickly recognize train lovers as
they lose interest in their food dish and turn their gaze to the two windows as the engineer blows the whistle, the train wheels clatter, smoke fills the air, and couplings clang.
I've had an intense interest in trains since I was a small child and trains passed beside my grandparents house in Harwood Missouri. I always ran out and counted the engines and cars. I still do. Like most boys growing up in the sixties I had a train set and made my first cross country trip out to California on a train. We also have ridden tourist trains in various places we visit, Brooksyne and Ester kindly indulging me. This weekend we hope to take the Jim Thorpe Bike Train. (see below) We often sang a short Scripture chorus in Bible College that was taken from Isaiah 6: I saw the Lord, I saw the Lord,
He was high and lifted up and His train filled the temple, He was high and lifted up and His train filled the temple, The angels cried holy, the angels cried holy, the angels cried holy is the Lord. What do you suppose would be the most natural way for a child, especially one who likes trains, to understand this verse and song? I am sure more than a few children have visualized heaven's throne room having the best model train set imaginable, a train set so big it filled the whole temple! Well, not surprisingly, this is not the meaning of the verse, which is probably a bit disappointing to a child who loves trains but the real meaning has far greater impact. The NASV elaborates, "the train of His robe". In clothing, a train describes the long back portion of a robe that trails behind the wearer, most commonly seen in wedding attire. Isaiah's vision is one of the many glimpses we have into the heavenly realm. The main focus was on the Lord and the angels cry out, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory". This verse is the inspiration for the classic hymn by Reginald Heber, "Holy, Holy, Holy" although the thrice repeated word is also used in Revelation 4:8, "they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Isaiah's response to this vision is so spiritually instructive, "Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts" (Isaiah 6:5). Indeed when we come into the presence of God we are cognizant of our own sinfulness. But God, as is His nature, made a provision for Isaiah: "Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged" (Isaiah 6:6,7). That was the customized provision in Isaiah's vision. The New Testament provided a solution applicable to all following the completion of Christ's mission, "But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).

and recognize that I am unclean before You, apart from the saving blood of Jesus Christ. I also declare along with the prophet, "Woe is me! for I am undone; because I have unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips" and I am made aware of this when I focus upon You the King, the Lord of Hosts. I envision You, high and lifted up with Your glorious raiment filling the temple. Falling to my knees I cry, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was, and

Jim Thorpe Bike Train up the Lehigh River Gorge We like to do this ride at least once a year. A 25 mile train ride up the beautiful Lehigh River Gorge followed by a 25 mile bike ride on a rail trail back down the gorge to Jim Thorpe, a quaint town in the Poconos. Video
Another reference in the Bible to a train capable of being misunderstood by a child concerns the visit by the Queen of Sheba to visit Solomon, "And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart" (1 Kings 10:2). Can't you just picture that long train track coming up all
the way from Ethiopia and the train cars filled with all kinds of goodies!
Here we are at the Railroad Diner where we met up with our longtime friend, Linda Trout, whose husband, Mike, recently went to be with the Lord. He suffered for decades as Linda lovingly cared for him as best she could. The Lord blessed them with two daughters, Angie & Hollie, and three grandchildren who are a tremendous blessing to her as she adjusts to life without Mike. We rejoice that Mike no longer suffers as he is now physically
whole!
 I (Brooksyne) wanted to include this photo of the rose since the above photo looks like it's part of Linda's shirt! It's a rose from my favorite rose bush and is prettiest when it is covered with dew or raindrops. We had a gentle rain through the night. (Many of you enjoy the flowers we include on our site and summer is my favorite season because I love how the ornamentals dress up our back and front yards.)
 We peeked into the Railroad Diner kitchen expecting to see the owner but were surprised to see a young friend we hadn't seen for quite awhile doing the cooking. We came to know Melody when she worked at Audrey's. Many young people get their start working at Audrey's which provides a loving family-type atmosphere.
 Brooksyne found a project for me yesterday using an old sash and attaching a window box as a planter. If you have any old window sashes sitting around here's an idea!
Finally today:
 We are thankful that Ester arrived home safely last night from her trip to Texas. She has been gone since July 10. We took both dogs with us down to the airport in Baltimore. We were on our way home and Brooksyne turned around and snapped this photo in the complete dark, but we still got this photo of Ester cuddling little Sadie while Mollie lay in the back. They were delighted to see her as
were we!
