"A
Lesson From
Rescue
Workers" Message summary: The apostle Jude used a vivid metaphor in describing the critical rescue mission the church and every true believer has: the call to “snatch others from the fire and save them”, which is an ongoing description of the Great Commission.

We
were concerned
about losing
power, due to
the freezing
rain and ice,
since
we are
entirely
dependent on
electric for
heating
and water. But
when we awoke
this morning
we still had
power and were
most grateful.
According to
our PPL
electric
company's
power outage
map for
our area
only 19
customers in
the entire
region they
serve in
eastern
Pennsylvania
have no power
(as of the
time of our
writing).
That's pretty
remarkable!
But today we
read that some
1,000,000
nationwide
have lost
power so we
are praying
for our line
workers as
they work
during these
freezing
temperatures
to restore
power so
others can
live in
comfort. Be encouraged today, Hebrews 3:13

Fanny
J. Crosby was
the blind
American
hymnist who
wrote, “Rescue
the Perishing”
after an
experience in
a New York
Mission. She
worked many
years with the
boys and men
in the mission
referring to
them as “my
boys”. When
she was asked
about how she
came to write
the hymn that
has now
touched
millions of
lives she
shared:
Yesterday during the storm we pretty much stayed hunkered in all day. I shoveled a path to our storage barn, kept the entrances open and kept the snow away from the heat pump. Last night our neighbor Leon plowed us out so if needed we can get out today. But most businesses are still closed. This week we have very cold temps all week long.
On Saturday morning my Amish neighbor Levi asked for a ride to repair some plastic on his greenhouse. He has a hard job trying to keep the greenhouse heated with all this cold weather and had to regularly feed a large wood heater so I drove him over to our local hardware store and bartered the chore for a couple dozen farm fresh eggs and this bag of carrots that Brooksyne had opened so she could include half of them in a roast beef dinner on Sunday. They were delicious!
