Jesus Came
Into My Heart" Message summary: Genuine conversion involves expectant waiting for Christ’s return as our heart’s affections are heightened to things above instead of things bound below. Are you looking up expectantly as you live out your Christian life down here below?

“You
turned to God
from idols to
serve a living
and true God,
and to wait
for His Son
from heaven,
whom He raised
from the dead,
that is Jesus,
who rescues us
from the wrath
to come” (1
Thessalonians
1:9,10). An old gospel song comes to mind as I prepare today's message that I haven't heard sung in church for many, many years yet the tune and words are deeply instilled in my memory. It begins: What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart!
In the course of our chaplaincy I visit with a quiet spoken man who has an interesting distinctive at least in regard to people I normally meet in the course of life. He's from Thessaloniki which is spelled Thessalonica in the Bible. On his 2nd missionary journey recorded in Acts 17 Paul established a church in Thessalonica. The Scripture informs us that some were persuaded by Paul's message and became believers in Christ. But overall, due to troublemakers, Paul had a bad experience in that city and was essentially run out of town. But that's not the end of the story!
The
New Testament
has two
letters
written to
this church
from Paul.
Today's text
is a wonderful
description of
what happens
when we
believe and
turn to
Christ. “You
turned to God
from idols to
serve a living
and true God,
and to wait
for His Son
from heaven,
whom He raised
from the dead,
that is Jesus,
who rescues us
from the wrath
to come”
(1
Thessalonians
1:9,10). If it
had been
written at
that time they
just might
have sang,
“Since Jesus
came into my
heart!” Be encouraged today! Hebrews 3:13 Stephen

Some
additional
study notes:
“I’m
fully
convinced in
my own mind
that the
doctrine of
repentance is
the missing
note in many
otherwise
orthodox and
fundamentally
sound circles
today. I hope
and pray that
God will
awaken many of
His servants
to the
importance of
seeking so to
present His
truth as to
bring men to
the only place
where He can
meet them in
blessing. That
place is the
recognition of
their own
demerit and
absolute
unworthiness
of His least
mercies and a
new conception
of His saving
power for all
who come to
Christ as lost
sinners,
resting alone
upon His
redemptive
work for
salvation, and
depending upon
the indwelling
Holy Spirit to
make them
victorious
over sin’s
power in daily
life.
Vernon
C. Grounds
writes,
“Two
kinds of
religion exist
in our world:
Religion A and
Religion B.
Religion
A is “faith”
in name only
(2 Timothy
3:5). It’s the
outward
practice of
Christianity
without
genuine faith
in the living
Lord.
Religion B, on the other hand, is a life-transforming, destiny-changing experience. It’s a definite commitment to the crucified and risen Savior, which establishes an ongoing personal relationship between a forgiven sinner and a gracious God. Are you bogged down in the empty ritual of Religion A? If so, you must receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Then make sure your relationship with Christ is growing deeper and more vital every day.”

PA. Brooksyne
has made an
interesting
observation:
In our
childhood and
youth I recall
taht most of
the bikers
were other
children or
youth. But
now, on the
trails and on
the country
roads we see
more senior
bikers than
youth. In our
younger years
if we spotted
a person in
their 60's or
above we'd
take a second
look but now,
especially
with the
availability
of Ebikes,
senior
citizens can
bike even if
they have poor
knees using
pedal assist,
get far more
mileage and
not hesitate
when they see
a hill up
ahead. Stephen's
note: My
very colorful
grandpa would
ride a bike on
his birthday
each year well
into his 80's!
However I
don't recall
him taking
longer bike
rides
