Of Hope" Message summary: R esourcefulness is one more way we can live in obedience to God. Let us be careful to look for opportunities to be more resourceful and prove to be good stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. Remember, God can use the leftover fragments! “When
they had all
had enough to
eat, He said
to His
disciples,
‘Gather the
pieces that
are left over.
Let nothing
be wasted.’
So they
gathered them
and filled
twelve baskets
with the
pieces of the
five barley
loaves left
over by those
who had eaten”
(John
6:12,13).

Last
night we saw
many friends
at the banquet
we've met
through the
years since
moving to
Lancaster
County in
2001. We came
to know Ron
and Bonnie
Hoover (L)
about twenty
years ago
through
Convene (a
business
mentoring
program) that
Ron chaired.
Here they are
with friends
they came to
know when Ron
was CEO of a
company in New
England at the
same time we
served a
church in that
region. The
Hoovers were
mentoring
others at that
time and are
standing next
to Kevin and
Heidi, a
couple they
were mentoring
at that time
in their
lives. What a
blessing to
have a
long-term
impact on
others!

Grover
Devault is a
long retired
Army chaplain
who is still
in active
service for
the Lord. At
96 he keeps
chugging
along!
These
types of fund
raising
banquets are
very popular
for ministries
here in
Lancaster
County.
Essentially a
donor sponsors
a table and
invites others
to come for a
great meal
(who would
turn down a
free meal at
the Shady
Maple!).
Following the
meal the
ministry being
represented
often has a
speaker and/or
an update
about the
ministry and
attendees are
given the
opportunity to
make a
donation or
become a
regular
supporter.
