"We
Will Reap A
Harvest" Message summary: Today we focus on an exhortation and promise about the harvest of souls.
Listen
to our message
on your audio
player. Today we focus on an exhortation and promise in this daily text which actually applies to both senses: The Exhortation: "Let us not become weary in doing good". "Become weary" is literally "lose heart". This word was used of the farmer who was tempted to slacken his exertions because he had become so weary as a result of his prolonged effort.
"While
Paul
repeatedly
emphasizes
that one
cannot win
God's favor by
doing good
deeds, on the
other hand he
never tires of
calling God's
people to do
good deeds.
Indeed, good
deeds are one
of the
purposes for
our salvation
and also one
of the
clearest
indicators
that our faith
is genuine"
(From Precept
Austin
commentary).
The
Promise: "for
at the proper
time we will
reap a harvest
if we do not
give up".
The proper
time is also
translated "due
season".
This will be
at God's
appointed
time, not
ours! "Reap"
conveys the
picture of
cutting ripe
grain and
gathering the
bundles
together. Paul
does not give
us specifics
of what this
harvest is. He
only
guarantees a
sure return on
our
investment,
relying on
that certainty
motivates us
to seize the
opportunities
God
gives.

The
improvement in

is
visible.
I dedicate
this video to
Galen, Jesse,
Bob and Jim,
four of my
farmer
friends. They
are busy with
the harvest. ![]()
This
is the large
field where
the children
were cutting
butternut
squash late
yesterday
afternoon. I
believe there
are five of
them barely
visible at the
top. Next time
you prepare or
eat squash
consider how
labor
intensive the
harvest
is!

This
week I am
transporting
the Amish
teachers,
taking two to
their school
in the
morning
beginning at
6:00AM and 4
back home in
the afternoon
beginning at
4:00PM. The
route through
the
countryside
includes
driving
through this
covered
bridge. The
steel barrier
is so trucks
don't try to
drive
through.

Silvi,
one of the
teachers, is
holding a pail
of fresh cut
flowers from
which her
sister will
make bouquets.
They'll sell
them today at
their roadside
stand and
bring smiles
to many faces.
These are
dahlias, one
of the most
beautiful
flowers grown.
"We refer to
them as dahlia
flowers, but
actually, a
dahlia flower
is not one
flower but
composed of
different
florets that
together form
a flower head"
(The Bulb
Farmers).
Finally
today:

Two
nights ago I
(Brooksyne)
just returned
from walking
the dogs as
our neighbors
were driving
past our
driveway. It
looks like
they got a new
truck and the
children were
enjoying
riding the
back. It sure
brought back
memories when
my dad always
had a truck
and we often
rode in the
back, once we
rode 180 miles
to see our
grandparents
in Arkansas.
That was one
long, windy
ride! The
family in the
truck moved
here about
four years ago
and lives on a
rented farm up
the road from
us. They have
nine children
(the oldest is
not with them)
and are all
home schooled.
After I told
them I'd take
a photo they
children lined
up perfectly
and all faces
are visible
except Dad who
is driving. I
actually took
this after
dark, but the
camera phone
does a great
job of taking
photos even in
the
dark.
