Steve,
a reader from
Iowa, sent
this photo he
took of North
America’s
longest "glow
trail" in
Vinton Iowa, a
real walking
trail embedded
with Canadian
glow stones.
This "lighted
path" prompted
today's
message.
"The
Lighted Path" Message summary: God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, is our guiding light in this sin-darkened world and we’re sure to lose our way unless we walk in His light.
Listen
to our message
on your audio
player.
When we walk with the Lord In the light of His word What a glory He sheds on our way While we do His good will He abides with us still And with all who will trust and obey
LED
lights have
become
quite popular.
We have them
all over our
house, having
replaced all
of our light
bulbs and we
use them as
night lights.
I even use
them for my
headlights, a
great
improvement
over the
factory
lights.
However
I have
occasionally
struck
gift-giving
gold. I
managed to
surprise her
one Christmas
with a very
unusual gift
that really
pleased her.
They
were
house slippers
with tiny
motion-activated
LED headlights
as seen in the
photo.
When getting
up during the
night
Brooksyne can
just slip her
feet into the
soft headlight
slippers and
off she goes
without
turning on
lights! The late Bible teacher Warren Wiersbe makes four points concerning this verse:
1)
The world is
dark. It
is in a
constant state
of moral and
intellectual
darkness. We
have more
education
today and less
wisdom. People
make foolish
decisions. The
world is also
dark
spiritually.
Satan has
numbed
people's
minds. They
don't want to
see the light
of the glory
of God in
Jesus Christ.
2)
The way is
definite.
How do we make
it through
this dark
world? God has
marked out a
definite path
for each one
of us, and we
don't have to
be afraid of
where it
leads. It is a
path of life,
blessing and
righteousness.
3)
Our walk is
deliberate.
As we take
each step, we
see more of
what God has
for us.
Sometimes I
would like to
have a
spotlight that
shines for
miles down the
road. But God
says, "You're
going to learn
to walk by
faith. You're
going to learn
to walk by
patience, by
My promise.
4) The Word is dependable. The lamp of the Word will not go out, and it will not lead us astray. When you read your Bible and let its truth shine on your path, God will show you where He wants you to go and what He wants you to do.
May
we all walk in
accordance to
the Word which
is a lamp unto
our feet, and
a light unto
our path!
Be encouraged today, Hebrews 3:13

On
the way back
from a
chaplain visit
in Palmyra
yesterday
three cows
headed toward
our car as we
slowed down to
look at the
tractor (photo
below). Rosie
was rather
intrigued as
she watched
them through
Brooksyne's
passenger
window.
Across
the road was a
very old
steel-wheeled
tractor
used to
pump manure.
Probably one
of our farmer
readers would
know this
model and year
just by
looking at
this photo.
(Click on photo for larger view) Yesterday we showed a photo of the Shenck's Mill Covered Bridge which I cross daily transporting Amish school teachers to and from school. Depending on routing I also cross the Siegrist's Mill Covered Bridge (photo above). This bridge was ripped from its foundations and swept downstream on September 8, 2011, by flooding caused by remnants of Tropical Storm Lee. The bridge's siding, roof and some structural members needed to be replaced. After repairs the bridge was reopened in August 2013. Biblical passages painted on boards are attached to the framing under the bridge deck. (Click on photo for larger view)
