Note:
We did not
post a message
yesterday due
to a morning
meeting and
dealing with
very cold
weather which
permeated our
house in spite
of working
heat! When
it's this
frigid it just
takes more
energy out of
you! Message summary: We must continue to examine and discern the teachings and lives of those who declare truth as we base our standard on the genuine Word of God, which remains and always will be the firm foundation of truth!

"For
such men are
false
apostles,
deceitful
workmen,
disguising
themselves as
apostles of
Christ. And no
wonder, for
even Satan
disguises
himself as an
angel of
light. So it
is no surprise
if his
servants,
also, disguise
themselves as
servants of
righteousness.
Their end will
correspond to
their deeds"
(2 Corinthians
11:13-15).
Later
in Scripture
Paul
specifically
exposes the
false teaching
of two men
whose names
are forever a
part of the
Scriptural
record,
Hymenaeus and
Philetus.
These
troublemakers,
who at one
time were
teachers of
the genuine
gospel, had
wandered from
the truth,
denying the
resurrection,
and were
thereby
destroying the
faith of those
who chose to
embrace their
false teaching
(2 Timothy 2).

Here's
an example
from
today's
text
of Satan's
servants,
disguising
themselves as
servants of
righteousness:

blasphemous
clip you’ll

In
addition to
the SCOOP
mascot the
Philadelphia
Eagles
football team
also has two
real eagles: Video
and Flying
during the
national
anthem. Friday evening I attended a Christmas banquet for JK Mechanical, an HVAC company we have served for over 15 years as chaplains. The event was held at Stoner Commons in a restored barn. Each year Chris, the owner of this company, requests that Brooksyne or I read the Christmas account from Luke 2 prior to my praying over the meal. It's a good way for a company owner to keep Christ in Christmas! When I first met Dan (the former mascot in today's message) his wife Chrissy was being treated for cancer. He shared that she has been in remission for 10 years and is considered cancer free. I sense the loving bond that is expressed in this candid photo.
"Let marriage be held in honor among all" (Hebrews 13:4). Marissa, the marketing director for JK and her husband Zack, were married several months ago. They met at Grove City College and he is a mechanical engineer.
As
we are phasing
into
retirement we
have decreased
our chaplaincy
workload from
serving over
ten companies
to the three
we presently
serve at four
locations.
For
many years we
have often had
a conflict
since two of
the companies
often have
their
Christmas
gatherings on
the same
night. It
happened again
this year as
well so
Brooksyne
attended the
other banquet
held by
KleenRite of
Columbia.
Tomorrow we
will share a
photo from
that banquet
as well as a
Christmas
luncheon we
attended
yesterday for
the third
remaining
company.
Brooksyne's
note:
Saturday
afternoon I
went out with
friends to see
the Perfect
Harmony
Christmas show
at the Barn at
Paradise
followed by a
evening meal
at the Agape'
Grill in

(next to me is

There's just
something
special about
the "girls"
day out!
Several readers correctly identified last Friday's mystery photo as a tobacco wagon.
Today's
photo is a
wagon loaded
from with
produce from
my neighbor
Levi's farm.
It's a
vegetable most
all of us eat,
but it's sure
a lot more
colorful and
appealing in a
store after
it's washed
than when it's
pulled fresh
from the
fields! Any
idea what it
is? Last night my neighbor Leon was over to plow us out again after he did so early Sunday morning. This time it was due to drifting snow. Living across from a large field we get lots of drifting snow! The last several days have been really cold, typical of the coldest days we may get in mid January. It was eleven degrees when we got up early this morning. Our new cold climate heat pump is working fine extracting the heat from the outside air so it's being put to the test! The average temps through mid December are over 6 degrees colder than this same period last year.
