You Remain"
Message summary: The nature of God is that He is always "full of grace". Since He is immutable this fullness is constant, not intermittent. His fullness of grace is never depleted and never needs replenished. Although grace has been poured out abundantly from the very beginning, God is always, present tense, full of grace. There is no less grace available for our need now than there was for Noah, Paul or anyone else who has ever lived. Listen to our message on your audio player.
“The
Word … who
came from the
Father, full
of grace and
truth” (John
1:14). "For
from His
fullness we
have all
received,
grace upon
grace" (John
1:16) This morning I was out very early transporting Amish teachers to their schools in a light rain. I had my windshield wipers set to a helpful design feature we likely now take for granted, intermittence. That is they turn on and off at predetermined intervals. I'm old
enough to
remember
having cars
that didn't
have this
feature. How
many recall
the annoying
squeaky sound
constantly
running wipers
would make
when driving
in light rain? The
intermittent
wiper was
invented by
Robert William
Kearns
an
American
mechanical
engineer.
He modeled his
mechanism on
the human eye,
which blinks
every few
seconds. In the case of windshield wipers intermittence is a helpful and purposeful design feature but in other areas of life we don't want to see things working intermittently. We appreciate a steady supply of electricity. We would call the power company if our power came on and off unpredictability. Likewise in regard to our bodies we want our hearts to beat steadily, not turn on and off at random times. That would sure be a mess! Today we
consider the
constancy of
God's grace. Praise
the Lord His
grace is not
intermittent! God has
been
dispensing
grace to the
fallen human
race at least
since he
sought out a
hiding Adam
and Eve and
asked, “Where
are you?” The
first
reference to
the word
“grace” in the
Bible is in
Genesis 6:8, “Noah
found grace in
the eyes of
the Lord.”
From the very
beginning God
has been
pouring out
His grace and
He continues
to abundantly
do so. "I Believe"
is a song that
reinforces
this truth. We
will post a
link to it
below. It
begins:

We
shared
yesterday
about Ester
receiving a
cutting board
from a
customer she
had helped at
her job at
Weis
supermarket.
Last night we
received this
email from a
reader: "I
was the old
lady who Ester
helped! John
makes cutting
boards from
recycled solid
wood
furniture, He
supports
several
charities.
Also loves to
give to
folks!! Ester
was so sweet
to me!
Blessings,
Arlene
We
met John and
Arlene some
15-20 years
when they both
had parents in
a nursing home
we served at
the time as
chaplains. But
Ester had no
idea who she
was.
Today's message is dedicated to a reader I do not know who wrote this morning: Please pray for me. I have sinned against God and His Son Jesus. I am now in my middle 70's. In my thirties I committed adultery which lead to 2 abortions by my now wife. My life was full of sin. I have confessed and repented of my sins and asked Jesus to forgive me and to save me. I have anxiety caused by my by my sins. I had a vision when I was praying about 5 years ago that I was condemned. After that vision I developed anxiety and fear. I believe Jesus is the son of God and that He died on the cross for my sins and He rose from the grave. I am sorry that I am rambling. Pray for peace in my mind and heart. Thank you There are likely others reading this who have similar issues with forgiveness. I prayed for him and wrote back:
I
encourage you
to memorize
and believe
this verse. If
we confess our
sins, he is
faithful and
just to
forgive us our
sins and to
cleanse us
from all
unrighteousness.
(1 John 1:9)
And then this one: There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1) This song will bring you comfort: "His Mercy Is More" I pray God will fill you with an assurance of His all sufficient grace and mercy to forgive!
