The Turkey
Point
Lighthouse
sits on a high
bluff
overlooking
Chesapeake
Bay.
"The Lighthouse Warning" Message summary: Today, heed and appreciate the warnings of spiritual lighthouses.
Listen
to our message
on your audio
player.
We
consider the
role of
ministries
that perform
lighthouse
duties such as
The Family
Research
Council and
speakers/writers
like Eric
Mataxas.
God
will also use
each of us as
this type of
lighthouse
since it is
our duty to
"live as
children of
light"
(Ephesians
5:8b) and to
"have nothing
to do with the
fruitless
deeds of
darkness"
(Ephesians
5:11).
At
the heart of
Peter’s
Pentecost
message was,
“With many
other words he
warned them;
and he pleaded
with them,
‘Save
yourselves
from this
corrupt
generation’’’
(Acts 2:40). A
powerful verse
in the book of
Hebrews
states, “How
shall we
escape, if we
neglect so
great
salvation?”
(2:3). Be encouraged today! Hebrews 3:13

There's
a lighthouse
on the
hillside
That over looks life's sea And when I'm tossed it sends out a light That I might see And the light that shines in darkness now Will safely lead us o'er If it wasn't for the Lighthouse My ship would be no more Everybody that lives around us Says tear thatold Lighthouse down The big ships they don't sail this way anymore There's no use of it standing 'round Then my mind goes back to that stormy night When just in time I saw the light Yes, the light from that old lighthouse That stands there on the hill And I thank God for the Lighthouse I owe my life to Him For Jesus is the Lighthouse And from the rocks of sin He has shown a light around me That I could clearly see If it wasn't for the Lighthouse (tell me) Where would this ship be
Finally
today:

I
drove out to Sandy
Cove, a
Christian
retreat center
that overlooks
the Chesapeake
Bay, the
largest
estuary in the
United States.
For the
geographically
curious this
is the area
where I was on
a Google
map.

This
pleasant
walking trail
led from a
parking lot
down to the
lighthouse.
However it was
a rather
chilly walk!

The
deer on Turkey
Point are
rather
passive,
accustomed to
seeing a lot
of people in a
safe
environment
(
and
probably
no
hunting), so
it was easy to
take a good
close-up
photo!

I
dropped off
Aaron and Anna
on a friend's
farm they had
met in their
Amish youth
group maybe 15
years ago. He
has built up a
large dairy
operation with
all new
buildings and
a house,
indicative of
their hard
work ethic.
Aaron is our
neighbor who
took over a
very derelict
farm about a
mile from us.
For the 23
years we have
lived in this
spot that
farmland was
filled with
waste and
broken down
vehicles
including
school buses
and freight
trucks.
He cleared the
junk and for
the past two
years has been
restoring the
farm buildings
and it is
turning into a
beautiful 32
acre farm for
their family
of seven.

In
yesterday's
message we
wrote about
our friendship
collection.
While in North
East Maryland
yesterday I
had lunch with
Mark, who I
added to my
friend
collection
over 25 years
ago when we
first met in
New England.
He was one of
our trainers
in being
corporate
chaplains and
he later
became my
boss. He has a
colorful and
tasty habit of
bringing us
pineapple
cream pies
whenever we
meet up.
