(Click refresh or reload for current message) Wednesday, December 4, 2024 "The Mission: To Seek And To Save" Message summary: The very heart of Christ's mission to earth was "to seek and to save the lost". He accomplished that mission. Now all who call upon the Lord in earnest faith will be saved.
Listen
to our message
on your audio
player. Zacchaeus, as many of you know, was a man of short stature ("a wee little man") who climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus as He passed by. "He was seeking to see who Jesus was". The motivation for his seeking is not clear in the text. Zacchaeus
is introduced
as "a
chief tax
collector and
was rich"
and thus
deeply
loathedby the
people and
perhaps the
last person
the crowd
would expect
Jesus to give
any attention
to. But Jesus
called Him out
of that tree
and invited
Himself over
to his house,
which
seems very
unusual to us
in our culture! The
portion ends
with a great
mission
statement by
Jesus: "For
the Son of Man
came to seek
and to save
the lost”
(Luke 19:10).
This is the
very heart of
His mission to
earth.He "came
to seek and to
save the lost".
Jesus
accomplished
His mission.
Now, like
Zacchaeus, all
who call upon
the Lord in
earnest faith
will be saved.
Be encouraged today, Hebrews 3:13

Note:
Musing on
today's topic
consider that
it is now also
our mission to
seek and to
save the lost
by pointing
them to the
Savior.

This is ballad
type song that
tells the
story of Jesus
Christ and
begins with
the following
lyrics. You
can't sing
along without
being stirred
in your heart
as it builds
and builds
with every
line leading
the singer to
a tremendous
spirit of
praise and
thanksgiving.
In
the darkness
we were
waiting
Without hope, without light ‘Til from heaven You came running There was mercy in Your eyes To fulfill the law and prophets To a virgin came the word From a throne of endless glory To a cradle in the dirt
The
farming
implement in
the photo
in yesterday's
message is a
manure
spreader.
Kevin, an
alert reader,
pointed out
that it was
made by a
company called
"New Idea"
which invented
the spreader
in the late
1800's. The
inventor was
Joseph
Oppenheim (see
history here).
New Idea was
absorbed by
another
company and
the brand name
is no longer
used. However
I have been in
the factory in
Coldwater,
Ohio that was
being used at
the time by
Val-Co, a
company we
served as
chaplains for
over a
decade.
