summary:
What a blessing that we can cast all our cares on the Lord and have an assurance that He cares for us. He ever loves and cares for His own!

"Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). In yesterday's message we shared about meeting Mike, a man who lives at the Lebanon Rescue Mission and is seeking to stay on the right path, an aspiration for all of us. In the message we quoted from a song the lines, "O how the world to evil allures me, O how my heart is tempted to sin" from the old hymn, "I Must Tell Jesus". ![]() ![]()
Hoffman pastored a church in Lebanon and when he was not working in his
study, he could often be found chatting with poor people in the homes "across the tracks". In fact, we pass over these very same tracks every week and this last Tuesday we waited for a very long freight train!
One day, in 1894, he visited the home of a parishioner in the hills outside
of town. Sorrow and affliction were frequent visitors there. He found a woman in the depths of mental anguish.
He counseled with her and quoted verses from the Bible, which he thought
would console her. However, she seemed to be unable to rise above her distress. He then suggested that she could do nothing better than to take all of her sorrow to Jesus. "You must tell Jesus", he told her.
A light broke across her face and she cried,
"Yes! I must tell
Jesus". And so she did. After a period of prayer, she rose from her knees with a brightness in her face.
Hoffman left immediately with the words, "I must tell Jesus", ringing in his heart. As soon as he arrived at home, and while still under the influence of this experience, he wrote: ![]() What a blessing that we can cast all our cares on the Lord with the assurance that He cares for us. Indeed, He ever loves and cares for His own!

Yesterday I (Stephen)
went with my friend Mark Pulliam to a lunch meeting at
Black Rock Retreat
in southern Lancaster County, a Christian camp started in 1954, the year I was born. It was a promotional gourmet lunch
to share with people about the camp and it was a very good meal! I was also blessed to see the impact the camp has made and is making for the cause of Christ.
During the meal I sat across from Barry and Melinda Story, who have quite a
story. They met in their teens at a church in Philadelphia in 1966 and later Barry took her to her high school prom. After high school they went their separate ways with Barry being drafted and Melinda off to college. Barry drifted from the Lord's ways for a season of life while Melinda stayed active in her service for Christ. In 1999 they reconnected on a date and were married in 2001. Both are now in ministry together as pastors of Restored Paths Ministries in the Philadelphia area. It was
a joy to hear their story!

Deepak and Sita Rai are from Bhutan and met as children in Sunday School. He
is a chemist and also serves as the pastor of a Nepalese Church in Lancaster. I read that Bhutan is the happiest country on earth and this couple sure demonstrated joy.

Following lunch yesterday I took a nearly 30 mile ebike ride along the Enola
Low Grade rail trail with my friend Mark through southern Lancaster County from Quarryville to the Safe Harbor trestle along the Susquehanna River. This is an example of the scenic views you see from the trail.
